The B+CARE network of volunteers is a group of heritage professionals and enthusiasts across the Balkans, who are dedicated to preserving cultural heritage affected by disasters.
The volunteer members of the network have all received basic training about:
- heritage values;
- analyzing the context of complex emergencies;
- safety and security in disaster areas;
- rapid damage assessment for historic buildings;
- evacuation, salvage and basic stabilization of museum collections.
The first B+CARE Volunteer Training on First Aid for Cultural Heritage took place in Gjirokastra, Albania in March 2016. At this training, 19 participants attended from seven Balkan countries: Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Greece, Kosovo, Macedonia, Montenegro and Serbia.
B+CARE volunteers are ready to share their knowledge and assist in the event of a disaster that affects museums, historic buildings, archaeological sites or other cultural heritage anywhere in the region. If you require assistance to support you, please contact us!
